Recruitment Privacy Notice

 

The Canada Council for the Arts (“the Council”) is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information.

As part of the personal information that is collected throughout recruitment and selection processes, we encourage candidates to include information on how they identify in the Voluntary Self-Identification section of the application form. This information is used during the recruitment and selection process to enhance representation of historically underserved and marginalized communities, as per the Employment Equity Act and the Council’s ongoing commitment to equity. This information is also used for reporting at an aggregate level.

The personal information collected the recruitment and selection process follows the Privacy Notice that is available on the Council’s website.

The personal information which is under the control of the Council is subject to the Privacy Act, which establishes the requirements for its collection, use, disclosure, retention and protection. In accordance with the Privacy Regulations, personal information under the control of the Council must be retained for at least two (2) years following the last time that it was used as part of a decision-making process that directly affects the individual to whom it pertains, but it may be retained for a longer period where required by law or to support the purpose for which it is being collected.

In accordance with the Privacy Act, you have a right to request access to any personal information which is kept about you by the Council as well as to request its correction. You also have the right to submit a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding any of the aspects referred to above.
